Seasoned climber with above average fitness levels can participate the Low’s Peak Circuit whereby climbers climb to the highest point of Mt Kinabalu called Low’s Peak located 4,095 meters above sea level. On their descent, they will take the via ferrata detour starting from 3,776 meters above sea level in order to see stunning views and explore hidden corners of the mountain plateau.
Arrive at Kinabalu Park HQ. (it takes about 1hr 45 min from Kota Kinabalu to the Park HQ). Pre-check in at Mountain Torq’s office and register at Kinabalu Park’s office. Meet your appointed Sabah Parks’ mountain guide and start hiking up Mt Kinabalu from Timpohon Gate @ 1,866m. Arrive at Pendant Hut @ 3,289m and settle in. 3.30pm Attend the mandatory via ferrata familiarization in Pendant Hut and meet your Mountain Torq trainer. Dinner would be at Laban Rata’s canteen. All lights would be out by 8.00pm.
1.30am Wake up and early morning supper at Pendant Hut. Start hiking up to the summit at 2.30am with your Sabah Parks’ mountain guide. Catch the spectacular sunrise on Low’s Peak before descending from Low’s Peak to meet your Mountain Torq trainer at 7.5km mark for your Low’s Peak Circuit via ferrata experience (intermediate via ferrata, 4 to 5 hrs, French grade AD) at about 6.30am.
11.00am return to Pendant Hut for a well earned breakfast and check out of Pendant Hut at 12pm and descent to Timpohon Gate with your Sabah Parks’ mountain guide. Arrive at Timpohon Gate approximately 6pm. Head to the Park HQ to collect your successful certificates and buy some souvenirs.
Return to Kota Kinabalu and transfer to your hotel.
