BPKCH01 Kuching City Tour (3 Hours)
See the highlights of Kuching City the Capitol of Sarawak, situated along the Sarawak River.
Meet at the hotel lobby. Experience the beauty of a multi-racial community and visit places of interest and the essential part of Kuching which includes the Colonial Law Court, Clock Tower, Charles Brooke Memorial, General Post Office, Square Tower, bustling Chinatown and the Chinese Temple. Discover the treasures of Sarawak Museum & Cat Museum. The tour includes a visit to a Malay Village, Orchid Garden and Astana a residence built by Rajah Charles Brooke for his wife Renee Margaret.
Then take a couple of minutes for a typical tambang boat ride across to Kuching Waterfront. Return to hotel.
BPKCH03 Sarawak Cultural Village
(Half Day)
The award winning Living Museum where you see first hand 7 ethnic groups of Sarawak: Bidayuh, Penan, Orang Ulu, Melanau, Chinese, Malay and Iban in their natural heritage. You will be greeted by friendly natives in their traditional costumes in each house.
Depart from hotel for your visit to Sarawak Cultural Village (38km from city) where you will experience the 7 replicas of Sarawak major ethnical traditional houses: Chinese Farm House, Malay Stilted House, Melanau Tall House, Penan Hut & Longhouse of the Bidayuh, Iban and Orang Ulu. Visit the village’s theatre to witness the cultural and dance presentations. Return to hotel.
BPKCH07 2 Days & 1 Iban Longhouse (Fullboard)
Experience an overnight stay in a Iban Longhouse.
Day One Travel 232km by car or coach, with stops along the way. At Serian town, stop for refreshments. You may wish to do some last minute shopping, for gifts for the Ibans or visit a fascinating native fruit and vegetable market. Other stops include a visit to the pepper farm and a stop to see wild orchids and pitcher plants. The last stop will be at "Lachau", a small up country Chinese village. You can still observe barter trading being held between the natives of Kalimantan, the Chinese shop owners and the natives of Sarawak. After lunch, proceed to the final stage of the journey and arrive at the river jetty at Lemanak River.
Take a river ride in a native longboat to arrive at an Iban longhouse. Visit the longhouse to meet the natives. Observe the unique lifestyle of Iban Natives and enjoy their warm hospitality. The Iban women will display their handicrafts for sale. As a visitor, do not feel obliged to buy. Just smile and nod your head… showing "No, thank you" or if you wish…in Iban "Ngai, terima kasih". In the evening , the Ibans will sound their gongs and perform their traditional war dance in full ceremonial regalia. One is often invited to join in… don’t be shy… it can be fun… even if you don't understand their language.
Don't leave without tasting their rice wine "Tuak". Dine in the longhouse or guesthouse. Overnight spent in the longhouse or guesthouse. (L/D)
Day Two After breakfast, see a blowpipe demonstration and learn to blow one. If you wish, your guide can take you for a walk through the surrounding farm and rainforest. Afterwards, prepare to return to Kuching, with a lunch stop on the way. (B/L)
BPMZV01 2 Days & 1 Mulu Show Caves
The Gunung Mulu National Park Sarawak’s largest national park, covering an area of 544 sq km, is noted for its diverse vegetation which varies from peat swamp to fascinating gigantic limestone caves and forest terrain. The Park has the largest extensive underground cave system in the explored world.
Day One Meet on arrival at Mulu airport and transfer to Mulu Park Headquarters. After registration, take the 3 km plankwalk to explore awesome Lang Cave and Deer Cave which runs through the entire mountain. Watch the magnificent bats’ fly out of the caves at dusk in droves. And return to the Park headquarters. (Lunch inclusive)
Transfer to your Choice of accommodation.
Day Two After breakfast, take a longboat cruise along the Melinau River to explore Wind Cave and Clearwater Cave, the longest known cave in South East Asia at a length of 51.5 km. Swim and have a picnic lunch near Clearwater Cave. Afterwards, transfer to Mulu airport. (Breakfast and Lunch inclusive)
